Safeguarding - Portsmouth Primary SCITT, Quality opportunities for trainees, teachers and children in Portsmouth

As gate holders of trainees entering the teaching profession and working in direct contact with children, Portsmouth Primary SCITT ensure rigorous and robust safer recruitment procedures are in place.

The SCITT Lead is an experienced Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) with additional training in supervision. Both the Course coordinator and SCITT Lead are trained in Safer Recruitment procedures.

We operate a culture of ongoing vigilance which starts from the moment an application is received to the end of the course – the safer recruitment of potential trainees and the safeguarding of both trainees and the children in our partner schools are of the highest priority.

Trainees receive up-to-date, consistent and ongoing training in safeguarding from Portsmouth Safeguarding Children Partnership and from course leaders. We ensure safeguarding is a constant conversation with and between all stakeholders.
