I would, without a doubt, highly recommend Portsmouth Primary SCITT for anyone that has aspirations of becoming a well-rounded, organised, proactive and inspiring primary teacher. After debating ITT for a few years, I finally decided to train to teach with Portsmouth Primary SCITT and I have never looked back. The bespoke training that Portsmouth Primary SCITT offers to every single trainee is second to none. Led by the passionate and supportive team members Emma, Hayley, Cate and James, who personally know their trainees and individually support every concern, worry or need you may face, you’ll be in great hands.

I would highly recommend Portsmouth SCITT for Initial teacher training. As a school we work with many other providers but always find Portsmouth SCITT to be consistent and led by an extremely experienced team, giving students a bespoke training experience. Due to the small cohort, student needs are met through careful placements with experienced mentors, often ex Portsmouth SCITT students. We have employed many Portsmouth SCITT trainees over the years and they are always well-prepared for teaching and speak highly about their training year and how this has prepared them for their ECT years and beyond.

Local School Leader

For me, the fact that Portsmouth SCITT is “for Portsmouth, by Portsmouth” is a real strength and from the start sets up a strong network of support. They work extensively with the mentors in school to ensure that trainees receive the best possible support and a number of the lecturers are based in Portsmouth schools; again strengthening networking. At my school, we currently have 2 ECT this year who were trained by Portsmouth SCITT. Although neither were placed with us for teaching practice, the fact that they were part of the programme and in a local school was a real positive for me. We will be taking on a third next ECT from Portsmouth SCITT next year. Personally, I have been involved as a senior leader with Portsmouth SCITT for over 5 years and really value the relationship that schools have with them. My go to would always be their leaders if I was looking for a teacher!
