We will be charging a fee of £9,000 to home and EU students in 2017-2018.
Most students will not have to pay anything upfront. You can apply for a loan from the government who will pay the tuition fees to us on your behalf. This will be administered by the Student Loans Company. Repayment of the loan will be based on future earnings and will only have to be repaid once you are earning in excess of £21,000 per annum. For further information on how to apply, please visit www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance.
Students may be eligible for a maintenance grant. The amount received will depend on your household income. This is a grant not a loan and is therefore non-repayable. For further information on how to apply, please visit www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance.
To encourage trainees with good degrees to enter the teaching profession, the government usually offers training bursaries, for example, in 2016-2017 they paid £3,000 to trainees with a first, 2:1, Master’s or PhD. For further information on bursaries, please visit https://getintoteaching.education.gov.uk. We have not received confirmation of bursaries to be paid in 2017-2018 – we will update this information as soon as it becomes available.
The bursaries will be administered directly by Portsmouth Primary SCITT. They will be paid to students in ten monthly instalments. Students do not need to apply for this bursary.
Loans for living costs are available from the Student Loans Company. For further information on how to apply, please visit www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance.
